All Addicts Anonymous

Without a doubt, the most-frequently asked question that I receive is, “Shelly, I know that this process has worked for you, but what are the chances it will work for me… that it will work for my family?”

And every time my answer is the same.

“If you really want recovery… if you’re ready to put away the old ideas and excuses and stop cutting corners for the sake of pride or convenience… if you’re committed to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes… then I believe your chances are just as good as mine…
nearly 100%.”

The second most frequently-asked question has two parts and it usually goes like this:

“Okay Shelly, if all of these Twelve Step Programs are so good, why are there so many that seem to have such marginal results, and why isn’t there just one powerful program that can address ALL ADDICTIONS?”

Let me answer the second part first and then refer you to a tremendous resource!

So, the question is rightfully asked, “Since all addiction is related, why can’t the steps to recover from one be used to recover from another… yes, just why isn’t there one powerful program that can be used by all?”

There is.

It’s called All Addicts Anonymous and you find out all about it at their website at AllAddictsAnonymous.org.

Founded in 1964 with the help and support of AA’s Bill Wilson, this tremendous organization, with its roots in the successful principles that for years defined “Strong AA”, has adapted the Four Absolutes of the Oxford Group and the Twelve Steps and Ten Points of Alcoholics Anonymous to be used by all addicts suffering from all addictions… from alcohol to drug use to gambling, smoking, food, sex and more.

All in one place… all in one program. And the results are just what you might expect:

Formerly-hopeless addicts and their families stepping out of bondage and into the light of recovery.

Oh, and as for the earlier question… that of, “If these programs are all so good, why are there so many that seem to have such marginal results?”

Let me rephrase that inquiry and ask it like this:

“What makes All Addicts Anonymous different from any of the others?”

I’ll cut right to the chase… the results begin with a core belief:

“Remembering that addiction is an incurable, progressive and fatal disease which can be arrested easily with education and support.”

In other words, ALL ADDICTS ANONYMOUS WORKS… for those who work it.

And the distinctions are eloquently summarized by Tom P., Jr. in the brilliant 28 page booklet, “Gresham’s Law & Alcoholics Anonymous”, available for next-to-nothing from:
